Gold Coast Itinerary

Finally done with my itinerary!!!
Day 1 (Fri): Reach Gold Coast Airport, drive to Brisbane. Mt Coot-tha, Queens Street Mall, South bank Market.
Day 2 (Sat): Davies Park Market, Lone Pine Santuary, Yatala Drive -in Theatre
Day 3 (Sun): Carrara Market, Ridley's, Jet boat ride, Beach Front Market.
Day 4 (Mon): Movie World, WetnWild, Fright Night
Day 5 (Tue): Join a full day tour (Mt Tamborine, Lamington National Park, O'Reily's)
Day 6 (Wed): Lismore, Nimbin, Byron Bay OR Tweed Heads, Coolangatta
Day 7 (Thu): Sea World, Robina Town Centre
Day 8 (Fri): Back to Singapore.

Penang Day 3

First makan place, highly recommended by worldwide media.
Outside the town towards Air Itam.

We had high expectation on this............. and we disappointed.
 
The CKT is only slight warm when serve to us.
Very dry and no wok hei. The worst CKT I had in Penang.

 This is really good, Top of the list in this trip.
The owner is very nice guy, prawn fritter is very fresh. Tofu is very soft.

This will be our last meal in Penang before we headed to airport.

We had missed out a few due to the timing, will try it next time we visit again.

Penang Day 2

Today early breakfast @ 8am.

Popular coffee shop joint in Penang.
Nice traditional tea and coffee. Average toast and slightly overcooked half boiled eggs.

A must try in my Penang list.
6RM for special ingredients.
Tasty soup base with crayfish, prawns and pork ribs.

Chinese Pancake 4RM

 After our breakfast, we headed to Kek lok Si Temple.
This is the electric lift to the Status of Kuan Yin.

The popular Penang Laksa at the market, just below Kek Lok Si.

Plenty of ingredients including pig's ear, blood, varieties of intestine and duck meat.
The kway is thicker than our Singapore version.

A refurbished heritage hotel. They have 2 bars, The Cellar which is a wine and champagne bar and The Den. Highly recommended bar for executive.

Whisky and Cigar bar
A small and nice quiet bar with varieties of whisky.
 Nice setting for each serving of whisky.
We had some Yamazaki, Hakushu, Hibiki and Macallan.
Price is much reasonable than in our town.

Penang Day 1

 Arrived Penang, first thing pick up our car at the airport and proceed for Chendol.

Approx. 2.30RM a bowl
 Then checked in our hotel.
 
New basic hotel, clean small room.
110RM p/night for a window room.
Great value for money, very centralized location. Walking distance to most popular eateries.

Jalan Siam (Off Anson Road), Stall may shift to Jalan Anson after 8pm.
3pm- 11pm.
 
So far this is the best and cheapest we ate this trip. Be prepared to wait. 
We reached at 6.30pm and CKT only served to us at 7.45pm. More than an hour waiting time.
Seating area available at the opposite coffee shop.
 
4.50RM with egg per plate. There are crockles in this CKT which is not common in Penang.
Fry with charcoals and full of wok hei.

 From a bright day till dusk. The old man frying non stop.
 Next, we proceed to Gurney Drive Food Centre
This was once my favourite CKT. The old man is no longer frying and the son is taking over now.
 
Cantonment Road Char Kway Teow
6RM for small
10RM for additional prawns.
 A lot difference from what I previously remember.
Will not visit again.
Cuttlefish 10RM
Average and not as good as what I had previously.
Straits Quay
5mins away from Gurney Drive.
Reclaimed land surrounded with high end residential.
Library
Nice drinking joint with pleasant singer singling live.

Approx 6RM p/bowl
The Sio bak is especially good, it is still crispy after soaking in the soup.
