Huangshan (Day 6)

Wake up 3.40am and climb up to Monkey peak at 4.10am and is already full. Went down to Monkey gaping at the sea (猴子观海) and wait for the sunrise.

Sunrise start at 5.15am



Just need to add water and it will heat up by itself.
Too heavy to bring along my hiking and give it away to the housekeeping.

This is also another signature in anhui.

Start my hiking towards Xihai Scenic Area, all the way to Yuping (front mountain)takes about 5hrs.
The workers bringing up bricks n towels up and down the stairs. That is also why the food, water and necessities is more expensive here.



The view is magnificient.







Although is weekday, there are still alot visitors, some part of the path still need to give way to those who walk faster.
I walked just halfway in 怪石多, feel nausea and stomachache...
Approached an security officer for restroom and he advised me to go to nearest Danxia station to take cable car back. To continue the route will take more than 4hrs and difficult to turn back. The journey will be tougher and tougher.

Reached the station and immediate rushed to restroom diarrhea...
Took cable car down and reach the other side of the mountain, and from here to Tangkou 王妈 need about 1+hrs drive.
Luckily managed to get carpool (拼车) again, each 50rmb. otherwise about 200rmb ride.
Reached Tangkou, picked up my baggage and gotten another carpool (拼车) to Huangshan North Train station 45mins. 30rmb each, almost same timing as the bus (20rmb) but bus only depart every 30-60mins.

After reaching Huangshan North Station, unable to change to earlier ticket, no choice and waited another 2+hrs for my schedule train (191rmb).

They have umbrella for rent, so useful.

Huangshan North train only arrived on Shanghai Hongqiao instead of Shanghai train station.
From Hongqiao transfer to metro to my hostel.

Very good location, don't mind to visit again.

I was lucky and upgraded to private room.
This is the cleanest toilet I have been in China so far.

The toilet concept is exactly what i have been in Japan, plastic walls.

First thing is to find a doctor but is already later, hardly can get doctor this timing. Managed to find pharmacy last min @ Nanjing road.

Nanjing Road East

Took the medicine and went Hai Di Lou.
11pm and is almost full, good service as usual.



Bought this 2 medicine (68rmb), one for food poisoning and the other is for 水土不服. Ate both and totally recovered the next day.

Huangshan (Day 5)

Early breakfast just outside my hostel before set off to Huangshan.
豆花 + 煎饼 6.50rmb

Hostel provide bus transport to Huangshan @ 25rmb, but set off at 5.30am.
In the end I got a car pool (拼车) for 80rmb to set off at 8am.

During the journey, the driver offered to drive me half day to the bottom of the mountain for 150rmb and I obliged.

九龙瀑布 entry 85rmb

This is the 9th waterfall at the bottom.

And kena conned again, the guys told me wil bring me all the way to the top and actually only about 10mins to the next waterfall. 220rmb, originally listed at 300rmb.

The water come out when the staff whistle.

Ok, the guys passed a few small flights and leave the steeper one for me.
Total 388 steps stairs.

This is the highest we can reach at that moment, 3rd waterfall.
1st and 2nd is closed.

Next, we visit 天湖 (68rmb).

Plenty of steps again!
Already half exhausted before I even reach Huangshan :(

Ticket counter for the glass bridge (天湖玻璃桥) 78rmb

Anti-slip cover for the shoes.

The initial part was quite scary, just need to look forward instead of looking down.
When wind blew, it still can be a bit shaky. 

To the end of the bridge, can play with the melody on the glass, quite fun!

The only way to come down on this side of the bridge is to slide down.

Just put on the slippery pants and slide down in 1min.

My Driver highly recommend this shop at Tangkou for lunch, Dianping review about 4+ stars.

The food is pretty good, free baggage storage and the young boss is very friendly too.

铁板毛豆腐

爆炸石鸡石耳石鸡 (stone frog) is a kind of frog cohabit with poisonous snakes in the cave in Anhui. 石耳 (stone fungus) is a kind of fungus that grow on stone.

Both are local delicacies to serve VIP guest here in this province.

The young boss wrote this for me, the route for huangshan.

Tangkou

I enter from Yunggu (eastern side of Huangshan).

Huangshan entry 190rmb

Yunggu cable 80rmb

Queuing for bus to get to the cable car station. About 30mins ride.

Left my baggage at the restaurant, bring the rest of barang barang up to Huangshan.
Regret bringing so much, they does sell on the mountain. Water about 30rmb up there, more expensive but still better than carry so much. 

Walk another 10-15mins after reaching the bus interchange.

Bought the instant rice for 20rmb, stick for 5rmb, water 10rmb.

My hotel is the nearest to cable car station, about 15-17mins walk.
Xihai is the next nearest about 25mins walk from the station.

Walk towards Danxia Peak for sunrise and saw many people coming down from the stairs, according to them cannot see sunset that day, too many clouds. No choice got to walk back to hotel and rest.



Had actually bought instant dinner but saw their buffet looks good and join in for the buffet 140rmb. Read this hotel serve the best food in this mountain. The buffet stop at 8pm, as most people rest early here in huangshan.
