South Island- Abel Tasman

Day 4 & 5
Short lunch break for 20mins

The sand flies here are killers

Finally arrived at our hostel at The Barn.
32nzd per night

The configuration of the room is so weird. Whole room only 1 socket and is hide below the bed. The service staff over the reception is not friendly too.The floor is covered with "floor paper" and had peeled off in some areas.

However, the location is perfect to go to Abel Tasman National Park. Night time can view milky way, very nice n quiet.
Hamburger buffet from our driver, 10nzd each.
Quite terrible, dry patties etc...

Cannot finsih the meal and prepare my own dinner.
Yummmmmmy
Found a new snack in NZ, keto compliance. Crispy pork rind.
2.50nzd approx

Wake up to wash my laundry before my hike.
Entrance of the Abel Tasman National Park

Trying to reach Apple Bay, it indicate 2hr, after 2hr I keep asking people who passed by me how long it takes to Apple Tree Bay, all the answer is 5mins with an interval of 5-10mins. Total 5 passerby. So I took roughly 2h45m to reach the destination.

I realised the map in NZ indication of time of arrival is never correct in my pace. This never happen in other countries I been. 5mins is usually = 15-20mins, 10mins is usually = 25-30mins.

Rushing back to cook my lunch, already passed 3pm after more than 5hrs hike.

Around 5pm, we head to a beach 1km away from our accomodation.
Had checekd the low tide is around 5.45pm. This is one of the best activities we had in NZ and is free.

There are plenty of crockles, just pick it up. This is unlike our home bloody crockles, the flesh is white in color.

The sunset is so beautiful.
Never realised we had went so far from the beach.
We carried 3 bags back.

Our new friend, 方崧 a retired doctor from Dalian voluntary cooked for us.
This is my dinner, tuna and fried tom yum cauliflower rice.
