Tioman Trip - Salang (Day 1)

Day 1 (2-4/4/2010)
As usual, set off from woodlands centre 5.30am.
The traffic is very heavy even in the early morning as everybody rush early to Malaysia for the long weekend. We have 21 of us.

Mersing Ferry Terminal
Usually we only took about 1.5 hours to reach but this time we missed our first ferry at 8.30am and went for our breakfast while waiting for the next ferry at 10.30am.

Salang Ferry Terminal (Tioman)

Had our lunch at one of the cafe and Ramly burger at the roadside stall.
This is more commercial than the Juara, few shops and cafe around and 1 pub opens till 1am.

Tioman is one of the duty free island in Malaysia, beer and liquor is cheap.$10RM for 3 calsberg. $65RM for baileys. Finding ice is a problem here as most cafe don't sell ice. we search the whole island finally only found one stall who sell ice, 1.25litre bottle of ice for $2RM.

GG pose

The K-Pop

Even rental of snorkelling mask is slightly more ex here.
$7RM- $10RM. Juara offers $10RM with mask and life jacket. Weixing got a sea cucumber again, this type is not edible. GG saw sea urchin too...

Sunset

We had blackout a few times, totally no electricity in the whole island. so dark that we can't even see our own hands in front of us. And there's no reception at all in this part of the island except using M1 service.

There is totally no lights adn we need to place candle on our table. And our aircon only manage to operate at 1am when the generator starts again.

Tioman Trip- Salang (Day 2)

We went to a few spot this time, monkey bay, coral island, marine park etc...
Not as shiok as our previous time as most spot are for tourists. We prefer the time we went in Juara, the boatman brought us some unique places where we can see giant turtle, black tip shark, squids and very big groupa....

GG saw promfret this time. We add in waterfall in our itinery, additional $50RM each.

Before leaving Malaysia, Nani recommended us very nice butter crayfish at Taman Sri Tebrau.

Really very good and pricey too...............we split to 2 tables. Ordered Lala, steamed groupa fish, butter crayfish, veg, deep fried sotong, crabs, steamed clams, fried venison etc...

9 of us and our dinner cost us $460RM, not cheap consider in a hawker centre in Malaysia. We bought some Nonya Kueh back too, cheap and nice, each cost only $0.50-0.60RM. Especially the steamed cake, extremely soft and nice...
