Hong Kong island and Kowloon is linked by just a tunnel but a lot of Taxi dont travel to Kowloon if u get on in Hong Kong Island. Some even don't know the way to TST they tell you. Some taxi drivers here carries 4 mobile phones.... Calling for taxi is much cheaper than flagging one here.
Although there is Airport Express, supposingly to be cost efficient and user friendly as they have 2 other check in points for early check-in luggage but to get out/ get in of the MTR, they is no elevators and lifts at all. Lots of stairs for you to climb and a big signboard implement by their government " CLIMBING STAIRS IS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH"
Getting in the train is like the arcade we have in Singapore. Noisy and basically need to raise up your voice if you would like to talk. Train is not as frequent as what we thought and they waited the cabins to be almost filled up by passengers before they leave from the interchange. It really surprised me, I thought HK is a very efficient country...
Vice versa Taiwan is much better in many ways than HK. Trains come every 2-3 mins, they dont wait for passenger to filled up their cabins. there is always seat available, the trains is much wider and clean. Passenger dont raised up their voice to talk, it is always quiet and speed is also faster alot, from one end to the other takes the most 30mins in Taipei.
There is alot foreigners in HK now, just like Singapore. Everywhere Indians, PRC, Philipinoes, Caucasians, Koreans, Bangadesh and Vietnanese etc...
And of course we cannot avoid cuttings Qs, screaming and proaching everywhere.
Luckily API is around 45 these 2 days, not that bad, just feeling pores abit clogged thats all.
Every evening 8pm, tourists will surround Clock Tower to watch Symphony Lights, just wonder why the government can't spend abit more for the elevators for MTR?
Kowloon is much better than HK island if talking about stairs, everywhere..... if walking from Sheung wan to Central, at least can cover 5 times to and fro Bt Tmah Hill.
Teahouse is also one of the popular places to go for meals in HK. After you seated, they will served you a cup of tea each, sometimes with their fingers soaking in it when serving it to you. GG says thats for washing utensils, out of curiousity I ask them whats that for? They says thats for drinking and is FOC:)
Another unique thing in HK, most building doesn't really maintain their facade. Looks dark and dirty. GG says mayb thats HK trend. Residents pay maintenance fees also, the building management will clip the residences list on the notice board, every month each unit had paid their maintenance fees and they will chopped a "PAID" on it, so those who didn't pay, everybody will know.
