Outside the train station, walk straight and cross the road for the bus stop.

It just took us 15mins to reach Jiufen, it stops just outside the entrance. Jiufen is a mountain town, it is a uphill drive like Genting, along the way we could see nice scenery and the driver will introduce the place with the mic on him. Like a tour guide, very professional except he drive and talk at the same time.
Jiufen (九份)
During the first years of the Qing Dynasty, the village here housed nine families, thus the village would request "nine portions" every time shipments arrived from town. Later Jiufen would become the name of the village.
In 1989, "A City of Sadness" (悲情城市)the first film to touch on the 228 incident(二二八事件), a taboo subject in Taiwan, became a big hit in the theatres.
And in 2001, Jiufen was used as a model in the anime movie "Spirited away".
At present, Jifen is a renowned tourist attraction representative of Taiwan.
Deep fried prawn balls (炸虾球) $50NT

This is the place when most tourists bought their local snacks and titbits.

Heard this is one of the good ones but unfortunately it was closed when we turned back.

They have a few flavors, we ate corn and yam flavors, with peanuts shavings and wrapped it with po piah skin.
Big peanut block.
Each ice cream selling at $35NT, just place the money on get the change ourselves.
Their fishballs ($35NT) are actually more like fish paste balls. Soft and not bouncy at all.
Another popular dessert stall here, 芋圆.

From $400NT onwards.
This one of the unique teahouse. It looks like a cave.
About 30 metres to reach the Tea house, inside is dark that it needs to light up even in daytime.

I heard they have nice view here at this cafe.

At around 6pm, we took 1hr bus (outside 7-11) back to Taipei.
Just alight at any of the blue line MRT and proceed to Ximending(西门町).
The MRT conductor regulates the crowd.

Xinmending(西门町)
There is no tables, just a few chairs around. So either stand or sit to eat.
In Taiwan, it is very normal for F&B outlets located on basement, 2nd, 3rd or even fourth storey. The entrance may looks small, but it is big and spacious when you goes in.
Strawberry snow flakes $100NT
Japanese Mochi w/ seaweed $25NT
See, GG non-stop.... left and right hands are full....
Tried their famous Braised pork rice (鲁肉饭) $20NT.
So-so, ate nicer one at Kaoshiung.
Around 10.30pm, we decided to head back to our hotel but the taxi driver talked to us on our way back and recommended us should not go back so early and should explore Shilin Night Market(士林夜市) instead. As Shilin closed at around 1pm. Most people here are cordial.
We then agreed and unintentionally shop again in Shilin NM.
After some shopping. we passed by Flyfar Massage Centre 3, 飞来发(三馆).
F1-3, No. 16, Dadong Road, Shilin District.
$360NT for 45mins.
When we finished, around 1pm, we found this push cart just outside the massage parlour selling fried mutton and full of people queuing. And obviously we joined in the Q too:)
Fried mutton & Kang Kong with peanut sauce $130 per packet.
Very good, one of the best food we ate in Taiwan!
We brought back to hotel and still smells and taste nice.
