The problem using google map, u will not know what kind of route they are using and the condition of the road when travel. We were travelling a dry condition and suddenly snow just in front, less than 5mins drive and immediately the snow piled up and unable to move forward anymore. Managed to make an u-turn and got stuck in the snow.
Luckily there were a car with 3 young chap, helped us to pulled up the car. There was one time their car was stuck too when trying to move ours. Imagine there are not much fuel and left in the woods can be quite scary. And equipped with tools are extremely important in the car when in winter too.
Don't drive in winter especially in rural areas. When in icy ground, you will not be able to nagivate the car. My car was reversing when the gear is in D and forward when the gear is in reverse.
The 3 kind souls lead us 2.5hr to another route to our next destination, Mara.

Euro is widely used in accomodation in Romania. Standard converting rate is 4.50.
Decent room with no facilities, WIFI is almost inexistance and unable to received mobile network.
This was taken next day when the snow is cleared. Weather is unpredictable in Romania, it can be snowing and suddenly snow will be cleared in hours. I heard the week before we arrived, the temperate is -22degree!
This village does not have any resturants neareby except one which is 5-8mins drive away. Super hungry and settle it in our guesthouse restaurant.
Day 2 in Maramures
