South Island Visit 2018 - Christchurch Day 1

Arrived Christchurch Airprot around 9.30am, was advise by the information staff to go to a bus stop waiting for Jucy shuttle bus. I was wrong, I waited around 35mins and reached the hostel in another 15mins more as the shuttle dropped the others to the rental car office first. Walked to Jucy Hostel is only 8-10walk.
Left luggage and headed to city centre via bus 29 to City Centre.
Transportation in NZ is quite expensive. Per trip for bus is 4nzd regardless of how many stops, based on zoning. One free transfer within 2hrs.
This is the main shoping street in City Centre, Cashel Street.
The street is very quiet, surpisingly not much people and even in the evening. To my surprise, this is not as vibrant as i think, not ssure if is due to the earthquake happen in 2010.

A lot cafe and restaurant is not open, quite sad to walk on the street...
Managed to find the i-site and asked for more information and attraction in Christchurch. Grab a map and head to the Botanic Garden.
Canterbury Museum
Botanic Garden

The cathedral is still under reinstatement, the rebuild will takes 10 years.
Walk 25mins to The Little High
New Zealand is pretty expensive, this price list is one of the reasonable one.

Wander the city for 2 hrs and simply cannot find any place else to go, eventually head back to my hostel around 4pm.
This is the coutndonw next to my hostel.
I booked a 8 bed female dorm $33.50 (before credit card discount)
I love the commual area, not sure the area will be fume with all the cooking smell in future?

Bought a Maketu minced mear and cheese pie from countdown for $4 and is awful. My last memory NZ pie si very nice when i was in north island 6 years back. This trip I hardly come across any nice one unfortunately.
