Hong Kong 2010- Day 1

14-6-2010
Reach Hong Kong!
Got 2 airport express ticket for $160HKD.
Octopus card for MTR.

Pretty new and only take 30mins to reach Hong Kong Central.

But is not user friendly with lots of luggage, need to take at least 3 fleets of stairs to exit the MTR.
After check-in the hostel, we went to Sheng-wan for lunch.
Went to this popular restaurant for beef claypot rice.

Very nice:)
Upper Lascar Row/ Hollywood Rd/Ladder Street

Everywhere slopes and stairs and that's the longest escalator in the world.
The Hong Kong Central-Mid-Levels Escalator is used to ferry thousands of workers between the bedroom community of Mid Levels and Central Hong Kong. Built in 1994, the Hong Kong Central -Mid Levels escalator now carries upwards of 60,000 people a day.

From 6am-10am the escalator moves downhill and then uphill from 10.15am-12am. The complete system of several escalators runs for 800m and climbs a total of 135m, some of the ascents can be very steep.

The escalator runs from Des Voeux Road, Central to Conduit Road in Mid Levels. There are several entrances and exits throughout Soho and Noho. The system is free and takes around 25mins one-way.

The Peak

The whole place is fogging and can't really see the view of the city. The mist and fog around is warm. Not cooling at all.

Went to this famous Honolulu Coffeeeshop.
Famous for their egg tart.

Roast pork mee $25HKD
Egg tart $6HKD each
Tea $10HKD
Average, overated....

After our dinner we proceed to Tai Cheong Bakery for egg tarts again.
I think Tai Cheong ones is better. $4.50HKD each.

Next we proceed to Lan Kwai Fong for a drink.

We stay at Fortress Hill and most of the shop close early. Only found this restaurant and had some soya bean drink and Chee Cheong fun for supper.
