The pleasant walkway design at Beitou station adn the alluring public art on display, a perfect start for outing to a plce bubbling with cultivated history.
During the Japanese era, Qinshui Park was developed as a hot spring resort and this area had the dubious distinction of being one of Taiwan's largest illegal red light districts. However, in the late 80's and 90's, the government made a concerted effort to clean up the area and the MRT line reached Beitou. Currently, young professionals with families were drawn to the Beitou area because of its good enviornment and convenient transportation links to downtown Taipei.
Beitou Library
Originally called the Beitou Public Bath, this was built in 1913, at that time the largest hot spring public bath in East Asia.Today is the most important display showcase for hotsprings related Beitou historical gems, and has the area's rare hokutolite or "Beitou Stone" on display. Roman style arches and columns merge with Japanese style interior perfectly.

Amphitheatre
At that time the entire bathhouse was painted green. When this museum was under construction, special chemicals were used to remove the paint. the green wall is now all that remains, left intact as evidence to illustrate the changes the bathhouse has undergone.

Public bath, adult $40NT
This was once the summer getaway home for the famed Chinese calligrapher Yu You-ren. Built around 1930s.

Beitou stone
Beitou has 2 famous stones that have serves as precious natural resources. One is " Beitou Stone" an extremely rare type of ore that contains radium. The other is called Qilian Stone, by nature highly refractory, in the past much valued as a building material.
Can see the mist and smell the sulphur from far
There are 3 type of sulphurs found in Beitou hotsprings, Green sulpur, White sulpur and Iron sulpur. learn more about the sulpur before chosing which hotspring you are heading which will make the experience more enjoyable.
White sulpur: Not recommended for those who suffers from pulmonary Tuberculosis or diarrhea.
Iron sulpur: Not recommended for those who suffers from gastrointestinal disorders.
Unfortunately it had been raining and we did not explore much and decided to proceed to Danshui(淡水)

Recommended by the local, when go Danshui must patronise 三栛成饼鋪 and 许義鱼稣.
Transportation is not expensive here in Taiwan, we travelling so much of MRT and still have some balance till the end of the 3 days. Booking of Taxi for whole day (approx 12hrs) is about $3000- $3500NT. They will drive you around for sightseeing.
