Porto - Braga - Guimaraes

My plan was to go Guimaraes first but I missed the 0820hr train and changed the plan to go Braga first instead. There are limited train to Guimaraes but hourly train to Braga, so plan the timing properly if Guimaraes is a must for first destination.

Train to Braga 3.10eur from San Bento.

BRAGA TRAIN STATION

15-20mins from train station to Centro.

There is a bus (1.75eur) directly goes to the centro but interval is 30mins.

Entrance of the old city ARCO DA PORTA NOVA

Total bill for 1 tea, 1 cookie and 1 cake less than 4eur.

From Turisimo, walk 7mins to the Bus Stop (along Avenida da Liberdade) to Bom Jesus Do Monte.

Bus #2 one way 1.65eur

Every 15min and 45mins of the hour.

15-20mins bus ride and reach the entrance of the funicular.

FUNICULAR STATION

2 way 2eur. 1 way 1.20eur.

The correct way should be walk up to the church as the story starts from bottom provided you can understand Spanish. I go the opposite, took the funicular up and walk the way down.

The funicular is built in 1882 and the oldest funicular in the world moving by water counter balancing, loading water into the car at the top of the hill, which weighs it down so it descends to the bottom, at the same time drawing the lighter, drained car up the the hill, where the process starts all over again.
