Kyushu- Nagasaki

Day 3

Start 8am, walked over to Chinatown. Nothing open, too early...
Nothing much, mainly some Chinese restaurants.
Got a Hokkaido milk from family mart. 141yen
Bought a one day tram pass (500yen) from nearby hotel. Each tram trip is 100yen.

Took tram to Sofukuji Temple
Did not went in since need to pay 400yen entrance. Looks old and nothing spectacular.
Next, tram to peace park.

Then walked 10mins to Ground Zero.
At 11.02am on August 9, 1945, an atomic bomb exploded 500m above this spot. The black stone monalith to the right of this plaque marks the hypocenter. The firece blast wind, heat rays reaching several thousnad degrees and deadly radiation generated by the explosion reduced the city center to ruins.

About 1/3 of Nagasaki City was destroyed and 150,000 people killed or injured, and it was said at the time that this area would be devoid of vegetation for 75years. Now, the hypocenter remains as an international peace park and a symbol of the aspiration for the world harmony.

Atomic Bomb Museum (100yen after discount)
Got a discount booklet from hostel.
Back to the same street as my hostel, highly recommend by some room mates to try their tomatoes base ramen.

Tomatoes base ramen with brinjal (730yen).
Walking around the arcade.
Spectacle bridge
Unfortunately the lift to Clover garden was closed for maintenance.
Climb halfway and five up, the weather too hot.
The weather is 23degree and is extremely warm, so wierd.
Took traim to Nagasaki seaport, passing dejima.

Took tram back to Nagasaki Station, stroll 1hr in Amu Plaza.
Booked bus to Fukuoka 2hrs in advance. Pick up luggage in hostel and head to Nagasaki bus station. This time reach 30mins in advance hahaa:)

Pick up ticket at bus station, bought a creme brulee while waiting for the bus.
1615hr bus (2570yen)

Total usage for SunQpass approximately 13,350yen. So worth it to buy the pass to travel around.

Total had taken 9 rides on tram, more than what I had paid for the pass. Tram is very easy and able to reach almost most of the attractions.

Arrived Fukuoka Bus station after 2h30m ride.
NEver realised the bus i need to take is at the same station and walked a big round on it. And luckily I did it as I found this steak house. Long queue...
At least 10 buses is going to my way, 100yen per trip covered by the SunQpass.
Just 3 stop (5mins) and alight at Canal City stop. Cross the street and walk towards the arcade. Hostel just inside the arcade.

Fukuoka Hana Hostel
13,700 for 5 nights (8 female dorm)

Need to make up own bed, common practise in Japan.

Laundry is on the roof (level 5). Went up and down a few times when doing laundry.......

100m away from hostel, there is a linkway to Canal City.

Ichiran Ramen
So far this is the only shop that provide Tax Free for their instant ramen. 6.5% rebate given by Canal City.

There are 3 types of ramen. Both the 1290yen and 1500yen are similar except for the packing.

Everyone has its own cubicle.

The serving staff will stand behind the blind, after serving, they will change the order chit to reorder chit (all will be cash payment) and pull down the blind for privacy. There will have a bell toc all for service. A tap is set aside for refilling of drinking water.

Had the Ramen with egg and a matcha beancurd.

1020yen ramen with egg.
Pretty good, now I have problem to choose whether Ichiran or Ippudo....

390yen matcha almond beancurd.
Nothing to brat about.

The mall close early here at 9pm. Some restaurants close at 11pm.

Yatai, popular street stalls in Kyushu.

Nakasu, the red light district in Fukuoka

There are many of these shops around...

Dropped by Don Quijote for awhile, not very big outlet, jsut a single level.
Saw this fan very interesting. It can turn goes left, right, up and down. Pretty powerful.

Then walked to MaxValu (24hr), supermarket 3mins from my hostel.
Bought a dessert for supper, water and total damage 181yen.
