21 Oct 2019

Booked 742am train to St Jean Pied de Port.
This location is extremely convenient if planning to go side trip.

I had check-out and left my luggage in hotel.

This is also one of the starting point for Camino.

From the train station to the centre took about 10mins walk.

Patisserie Barbier- Millox

Apple pullover and Basque cake (3.25eur)
The basque cake here is not the same as the one I ate in St Jean de Luz.... Those in SJL is way better.

St Jean Pied de Port train station
Took 1301hr train back to Bayonne, there are only limited train so book in advance.

Pont Saint Espirit
Bayonne is divided to 3 areas, St Espirit, Petit Bayonne, Grand Bayonne.
My hotel, bus pick up point and train station is located in St Espirit. Walked across this bridge to the other side, left side is Petit Bayonne, right side is Grand Bayonne, separated by Nive river.

Eglise Saint-Andre
Campus de La Nive
Grand Bayonne on the other side.

Cathédrale Sainte-Marie de Bayonne

Electric bus in Bayonne

Pont St Espirit
Bayonne train station

Lemon sugar crepe (4eur)
Very soft n soggy crepe.
Took 1825hr bus (Eurolines 5eur) to Bilbao.
2h35mins ride.

Eurolines is terrible, this round waited about 2hr and no information/ notification. Everyone just waited in open area, and lucky only drizzling and not heavy rain. There are no shelter at the pick up point.

As such, i only managed to reach my hostel near 11pm.
Check-in Quarter Bilbao Hostel
(49.74eur, 3 nights for 8 bed female dorm, including breakfast)
I was automatically upgraded to 4bed and the room is very small and have a weird roommate that staying in the bathroom for hours and explain her rules in the room and we need to follow hers.

Luckily, reception allowed me to move to my 8 bed next day which is a lot more spacious and comfortable with nicer room mates.

The design is so weird, plug is so high up and no shelf to support, so need to have a long cable for charging.

Communal area is small but cozy.
As I am too hungry after all the delays, quickly went out to grab some food in nearby tapas bar.

Txalaparta Berria
Crepe with mushroom cheese (2.60eur)
Wok house
Hardly find this brand anywhere, open much later than other bars.
The fried rice is really good, with wok hei!
Many times better than Wok the Walk, can see the smoke infused into the frying process. The seasoning is also better, cheaper and bigger portion too.
Highly recommend this if anyone has a craving of chinese style cooking.

Canton fried rice (5.60eur)
Portion is very big and delicious
