San Gimignano

Our next bus to San Gimignano is 15.51hrs. We have 1hr 45mins doing nothing here....
Weather is extremely hot, approx. 39 degree:(
Reached after 35mins of bus ride.
San Gimignano is a small walled medieval hill town, know as the Town of Fine Towers.

In the 12th century, the city had over 70 towers, home which were built by many wealthy families in the town as a way to show off their wealth and power. Although only 14 have survived, the striking 14 towers of various height which have withstood wars and time continue to define the city making its unique skyline its international symbol.
It has been recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990.

The town also known for the white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, produced from the ancient variety of Vernaccia grape which is grown on the sandstone hillsides of the area.
